Your Impact Must Always Be Greater Than Your Intention
Professional Speaker | International Author | Leadership and Inclusion Coach |
Christene Lewis is an international author and speaker. She is also a leadership and change coach amongst youth advocacy for families from various socio-economic status. Christene was one of the recipients of the Canada’s top 100 Black Women to Watch 2023 award and the 2024 Black Diamond Award for youth empowerment! Her book, Hidden Truths, Broken Silence has been compared and reviewed to award-winning author Sister Souljahs, The Coldest Winter Ever. Christene speaks from life experience, through early childhood molestation to gang culture. Some say Christene was the epitome of the girl who wasn’t supposed to make it. Christene’s emphasis and capacity building module is that One’s impact must always be greater than their intention. Christene's focus on youth is imperative for growth for the upcoming generation. Many youth have asked Christene why she chose to do speaking and if she loves it. Christene’s response has been consistently the same; her response being, “My goal is to be the woman and advocate that I wish I had when I was younger.” Christene will leave you empowered by reminding you about your self-worth and peace of mind by allowing you to recognize past traumas and deep-rooted issues. Rising from the blinded eye isn't just a metaphor but a key component when engaging youth and young adults. Whether it be jail, lack of self-esteem, being adopted, abuse and even parenthood. Christene will help you guide yourself back to your path of success through connection and growth.
Christene truly believes that we as leaders need to not just create safe spaces but open spaces to allow youth to be who they are! we have to meet them at their present!
What is your hope for change? What would you do for yourself if you weren't afraid?
I am that I am, I am not what they say I am, I am what I choose to be. I am me!
Have you ever felt invincible in the largest crowds, or felt silenced when you're screaming the loudest? This keynote presentation focuses on embracing oneself and taking your power back through transcending past false narratives. I share my story of resilience, truth and taking back the pen to my story of life through accountability. Youth and young adults and leaders among us leave feeling empowered, valued and allowing themselves a genuine feel of hope and a chance at life and freedom by taking their pain and turning it into their power.
Skill isn’t just about what is cultivating within you, true skill is embodying and collaborating with others who possess similar skill or something completely different. This keynote focuses on the unique and diverse skill that any leader, organization and or management may have or may be looking for within their employees. Burn out is real, but when we truly have come together as multi-disciplinary team and lean on one another, we don’t just see what each person has to offer but, you feel it, so that you can continue to build capacity within your indirect and direct company and communities you serve. It starts with you!
As a leader, we all have those days where we second guess ourselves, self-doubt and even imposter syndrome. This keynote is about the importance of self-wellness first, and then cultivating not just safe spaces but open spaces, for people to truly be themselves and being open to universal supports not just traditional supports. Each generation is changing, whether it be the generation of people or technology. Christene speaks about how to avoid burnout, being true to yourself, and bringing a sense of openness to the environment you are fostering.
Being a woman is amazing! This keynote presentation focuses on women empowerment. Too often we here, “you’re such a strong woman.” Christene focuses not on the strength of the adversities that you have faced, but the power that you have gained and wisdom you have come into. Empowerment starts with us, but before it can start with us, it starts with you. Christene shares lived experiences, and how she rose from the narrative, “The epitome of the woman who wasn’t supposed to make it.
This keynote focuses on more than just goal setting. It focuses on the system around how you reach your goal, and systems that you have put in place to acquire them. This keynote allows everyone to realize there is a difference between starting from scratch and starting fresh. When you start from scratch you’re starting with no foundation and just going with your vision, but when you start fresh, you’re starting with lessons not failures. Allowing yourself to make mistakes and build a system that defines you. When you make a statement about yourself, business and or partnerships, it’s a declaration. It’s you give that statement power. Instead of saying, “I am trying to go to the gym today,” you say, “I am a healthy athlete.” You move to system to which you see yourself. It’s the system, before the goal.
Bridges the gap of communication with adults and youth through music, like spoken word, rap, poetry) Take away will be the youth feeling heard and the adults coming together with their students/mentees and building a positive and strength based education/social emotional program that fits their needs.
